Looking for stellar leash manners, but don’t care about the freedom of off leash reliability? Look no further! The Basic On Leash Board & Train is designed to give you On Leash Obedience in just 2 weeks. This is a bare-bones program for the avid-walker who values polite leash manners, but does not have problem behaviors to address inside or outside the home. This immersive program is designed for the Owner who wants fast, reliable results, without having to implement the initial training themselves.
Your pup will reside in your designated trainer’s home and be treated as one of our own. Training will take place in the home, as well as field trips to ensure reliability in a variety of settings (hikes, stores, patio visits, nature trails). We don’t have some huge facility, which means your pup gets personalized attention and a custom training plan catered to their specific needs.
This program is perfect for owners of dogs 5 months of age or older who are looking for fast results, but may not have the capacity to instill initial training. We recognize that life is busy – let a professional do the initial teaching for you and then educate you on how to maintain your dog’s new skills once training is complete.
Your professional trainer will teach your dog basic obedience on leash while also placing a high emphasis on life skills that your dog will need, both while in obedience behaviors, as well as their time outside of it. Skills like increased impulse control, conditioned relaxation, decompression, confidence building and more are wildly underutilized by most training companies. These are equally, if not more, important to teach as obedience behaviors. Your trainer will also engage in interactive play with your dog, engagement, calm leash manners, calm indoor manners, and stopping minor unwanted behaviors.
See below for more information on what can / cannot be addressed in this program.**
While initial training is hands-off for you, maintaining the results won’t be, which is why your trainer will teach you everything you need to know to maintain your dog’s newfound set of skills.
We pride ourselves on client education, so even though we will be doing the training for you, you will get plenty of educational opportunities during your dog’s training as well as after they come home.
We start your learning process by giving you lifelong access to our Virtual Learning Portal, filled with pre-recorded videos and PDFs covering a wide array of topics to address your needs. Additionally, your trainer will provide you with personalized video updates of your dog with your trainer explaining the process so you can follow along the journey. At the end of the program, you will have very extensive Go-Home Lesson with your trainer explaining the process and then coaching you through handling your dog – this is both educational, as well as a skills assessment to ensure you can demonstrate handling your dog through everything they have learned during training.
But the training doesn’t stop there…
Once your dog’s Board & Train is complete, you will also receive TWO Follow Up Lessons to use for continued coaching. We understand that everyone learns at a different pace and some need more continued support than others, which is why we will support YOUR growth as your dog’s handler, just as much as we guarantee the quality training your dog has been provided while they are with us.
Other perks to our immersive Board & Train programs include access to Vacation Boarding and Pack Walks for continuing education and support.
Your trainer will have a planned curriculum of behaviors / life skills / communication system that we believe every dog should know, however if you have specific requests, please let us know.
Commands your dog will learn:
Name Recognition
Sit (on leash)
Down (on leash)
Heel (on leash)
Let’s Go (on leash)
Place (on leash)
Here (on leash)
Wait (on leash)
*All behaviors will have an inherent Stay built in, until told otherwise).
*Please keep in mind that this is a LEASH program, meaning you will not have reliability with your dog when a leash is not attached, including both inside and outside the home. As such, minor problem behaviors are difficult to address with this program, unless a leash is attached to your dog at all times. For addressing minor problem behaviors (excessive barking, jumping, counter surfing, barrier reactivity, mouthiness, etc), please contact us to discuss an Off Leash Program that would be better suited to address your needs.*
**Please schedule a complimentary phone consultation to discuss your dog’s specific needs and your desired results prior to booking.**
