It’s that time of year when it seems everyone is getting a Christmas puppy. You likely are filled with so much excitement over your adorable and playful new family member. You’re posting pics and videos online, scrolling Amazon to equip yourself with all the right equipment, friends are offering advice on best practices to raise your young canine companion and you’re daydreaming of all the fun you are going to have throughout your lifetime together.
We know how magical this time can be. Nothing beats the excitement of a new puppy. We also know how quickly reality can set in and how overwhelming raising a baby dog can be. While every dog has its unique traits, owners tend to complain about the same nuisance behaviors that they would like fixed. We hear it all the time:
“We are doing all the right things, but we are still having potty accidents.”
“I have bought all the toys and chews, but he is still chewing on things I don’t want him to, like shoes and furniture.”
“She won’t stop biting my hands, even when I tell her ‘No!'”
“The jumping has got to stop. We love how playful she is, but she’s gotten bigger and it’s too much for our guests and kids.”
“We tried the crate, but the barking and whining was nonstop and we had to get some sleep.”
When it comes to training a puppy or training a dog, it’s not just about WHAT you do, but HOW you do it. We understand there is so much conflicting information out there, that it can feel very overwhelming. Raising a puppy does not have to be complicated. It does need to cost tons of money. It absolutely does not have to take tons of your time. We want to help simplify this process for you, which is why we are releasing a Puppy Raising Series, to help teach you how to address the biting / nipping, jumping, barking, potty training, crate training, chewing, and so much more. In addition to all the typical problem puppy behaviors, we will be teaching you how to raise your puppy with confidence, properly socialize them, teach them how to learn, address their genetic needs (to lick, sniff, chew, etc) in a way that’s constructive, not destructive. We will be showing you how to develop proper interactive play mechanics, manage their space, teach foundational obedience concepts and so much more! For now, we encourage you not to go waste your money on tons of toys, treats, or equipment. We will absolutely be sharing our top picks for everything you DO and DON’T want to buy for your puppy.
The secret sauce is this: K – I – S – S. Keep It Stupid Simple. Dog training shouldn’t be complicated. Our goal is to give you easy, cheap, tangible best practices to raise your puppy so that you can spend your time enjoying your new little ball of fluff and not regretting the decision to give into that adorable little puppy face with the cutest puppy eyes staring back at you. Until then, soak in every moment, because the moments go by too fast.
Merry Christmas and Happy Training!
